Center for Personality & Integrative Psychotherapy
Dr. Callie Jowers is a licensed clinical psychologist in Connecticut who specializes in the assessment and treatment of personality disorders and other complex mental health concerns. She earned her B.A. and M.S. in Psychology from Augusta University before receiving her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. She relocated to Connecticut in 2023 to complete her doctoral internship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan in 2024.
Dr. Jowers currently serves as an acute inpatient clinical psychologist at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital, where she provides individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, diagnostic consultation, and interdisciplinary treatment planning for adults with severe and complex psychiatric conditions. Additionally, she works part-time in private practice at the Center for Personality & Integrative Psychotherapy. She has worked across the full continuum of psychiatric care, including university clinics, outpatient psychotherapy, intensive outpatient programs, residential treatment, medical and psychiatric inpatient settings, and community mental health.
Since graduate school, Dr. Jowers has been passionate about understanding the role of personality in mental health and psychotherapy. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at national conferences, with scholarly interests focused on personality, personality assessment, and psychotherapy. She maintains active membership in the American Psychological Association (APA) and APA Division 39 (Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology).
Dr. Jowers believes that meaningful psychotherapy begins with curiosity, collaboration, and a strong therapeutic relationship. She enjoys helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves, including their emotions, behaviors, motivations, relationships, and recurring patterns. She works with patients to identify the factors that may keep them feeling stuck. Her clinical interests include personality disorders, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, complex interpersonal difficulties, and psychological assessment. She is especially passionate about helping individuals with longstanding emotional and relational patterns cultivate healthier ways of coping, relating to others, and creating more fulfilling lives.
Psychotherapy is never one-size-fits-all. Dr. Jowers practices from an integrative framework grounded in psychoanalytic and contemporary psychodynamic theory while thoughtfully incorporating interventions from evidence-based approaches, including Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when clinically indicated. She tailors treatment to each individual's unique strengths, needs, and goals while providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space for meaningful, lasting change.
